PS 10000 Series Overview
The PS 10000 series of DC laboratory power supplies from EA Elektro-Automatik efficiently transforms grid energy into a regulated DC voltage, achieving up to over 95% efficiency. The PSI 10000 series comprises both single and three-phase units, which can be used with virtually all global mains voltages due to their wide input range. The DC voltage and current are application-driven, spanning from 0 - 60 V to 0 - 2000 V and from 0 - 6 A up to 0 - 1000 A in a single device. The DC supply functions as a flexible output stage with a constant power characteristic (autoranging), offering a broad voltage, current, and power range. All units are equipped with a master-slave bus to achieve higher power and current, allowing up to 64 devices to be connected in parallel to form a system that can deliver up to 1920 W and 64000 A. This system operates as a single unit and can utilize different power classes, but the voltage class must remain constant. This allows a user to build a 75 kW system using two 30 kW and one 15 kW devices from the PS 10000 range. The system also offers typical laboratory functionality, including a comprehensive function generator, alarm and warning management, various interfaces and ports, software solutions, and many other features.
AC Connection
The PS 10000 series DC power supplies come with an active PFC, ensuring high efficiency with low energy consumption. These devices also offer a wide input voltage range, from 1-phase 110/120 V up to 240 V AC mains supply and 3-phase 208 V to 380 V, 400 V, and 480 V AC mains supply. They can be operated on most global mains supplies and automatically adjust to the available supply without additional configuration. In a 110/120 V and 208 V AC grid, output power derating is applied.
DC Output
The bidirectional power supply PS 10000 offers a DC voltage of 0 - 60 V up to 0 - 2000 V, allowing currents of 0 - 6 A up to 0 - 1000 A. The flexible output stages (autoranging) provide the user with a wide voltage, current, and power range, thus offering a broader working field than traditional power supplies.
DC Connection
The DC output is connected via a copper rail on the back of the device. For systems requiring higher performance, the devices can be easily connected in parallel. Devices can be effortlessly linked with the vertical copper rails. A contact protection cover is included.
High-Performance Systems
High-power applications can be accommodated with high-power systems of up to 1920 kW. This is achieved by using the outputs of multiple PS 10000 devices, altering the copper rails to vertical, and connecting in parallel. As such, a 19-inch cabinet with 42 HE can house a system delivering 240 kW and occupying 0.6 m2 of floor space. The master/slave bus allows up to 8 cabinets with a maximum of 64 units of 30 kW each to operate as a single unit.
Master-Slave-Bus and Share-Bus
When the built-in master-slave bus and share bus are utilized, a multi-device system operates as a single device. The master-slave bus and the share bus are simply connected to each device. The master-slave bus collects and displays system data such as total power and total current in the master device. Warnings and alarms from the slave devices are clearly displayed. The share bus ensures equal load distribution among the individual devices.
Relay Test in Production
During production, relay manufacturers must perform various tests on their products. For these tests, the coils and contacts are supplied with precisely defined voltage and current. Key parameters such as operating, holding, and decay current, along with the associated voltages, must be verified and documented for the coil tests.
